Users can now perform actions in the mail file copy of their contacts, just as they would for contacts in their local address book, including preference settings. The first change is to contacts that are in the mail file.There are two changes to Contacts functionality in Lotus Notes 8.5.3. This is under the Contacts preference list: You can now choose to display an attribute such as Company Name for contacts in your type-ahead option list, as shown in the following screenshot. Checking the preference for displaying a pop-up alert, will enable this new pop-up functionality:Īnother new preference has been added around the type-ahead behavior. It is called Sending and Receiving, as shown in the following screenshot. The preference is under Preferences | Mail. This can be controlled by a preference setting. The following screenshot shows the pop-up notification: The end user can grab and drag the pop-up to pin it open. The pop-up will appear in the lower right-hand corner.
When a new message arrives in the inbox, the client displays the subject in a pop-up notification and allows the contents of the message to be opened from it. New mail notification has seen a modification in behavior in Lotus Notes 8.5.3. There is now a new option to search by sender or subject, after right-clicking on an e-mail. The search functionality has seen improvement as well. The end user can choose whether to add a signature, or have no signature, as shown in the following screenshot: These keywords include Re and Fw:Ī new Signature option has been added. Now, when sorting by subject, several keywords are ignored (see the following screenshot). One of the key new features is a change to the way subjects are sorted. There have been a few changes to the default behavior of previous releases introduced in Lotus Notes 8.5.3.
